Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance

Well Donna ...this was not before my time. I do remember watching this and it is so sad how many people don't understand patriotism. Our flag is left out in the rain, very few adults either don't know or don't care to place their hand over their heart or look towards the flag to pledge their allegiance. Unfortunately people do not realize what they have it until it is gone. Thank you for the walk down memory lane.

To my kids: don't ever lose your LOVE for our country. When elections draw near and you're soon to step foot on school campus, be faithful to your home-grown values. Watch Red Skelton ... definitely before our times ... but he's a wise man! To my friends: watch the video and share it. How do you keep values strong in your kids? What do you do that's easy for me to use?

I watched Red Skelton when I was a child with my papa! Wish there were more people like him!

As a child I watched Red Skelton. Now the children watch Family Guy, South Park, Simpsons or worse. Are you part of the problem, or part of the solution? Step up. America needs you.

You know you don't have to make an oath to love and stand up for freedom. And he knew that.

I don't think anyone has argued that people shouldn't be able worship as they wish in public schools, but to profess that Christians are being oppressed by not being able to FORCE religion on non-Christians through a public institution that is paid for by every tax payer (who represent a myriad of different beliefs) -- is crazy. I'm glad to live in America - a secular state and not a theocratic one. The First Amendment states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . ." The Treaty of Tripoli, written by George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and ratified by the U.S. Senate in 1797, states, "the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion;" As much as it seems many Evangelical Christians would love to rewrite history and say that the US Government was founded on Christianity, it simply is not true. It was founded as a secular state with equal rights for all beliefs, and Christianity has no place being *taught* in public schools any more than any other religion does. Side note: The Pledge of Allegiance was written by Francis Bellamy, a Christian Socialist and originally stated, "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and (to*) the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Very Moving. We do need to get back to one Nation "Under God". Only God can save our nation and keep our freedom. I pray it is not too late.
