  • I never thought I would adopt a "special needs" child, but that is exactly what we did last October. I think "special needs" can scare people, but when you look at the things that are considered special you will often see that you already know someone with this "special need" and it really isn't all that special or unmanageable. I'm glad that I learned about special needs adoption because it brought our son to our family. When we adopt again, his brother or sister will be a waiting child as well. We blessed to be able to bring a "special" child into our home.

  • We have adopted two children from China; One a two and a half year old boy who is blind, and one a nine year old girl who is blind. These kids gave us a family, and give us far more than we could have imagined. We know adopting Blind children is not for everyone, but they are far more normal than not, it's really just a matter of adjusting to a constant narration of your activities and learning basic braille. I'd recommend that you study your own heart to decide, but not to be afraid of a special need.

  • We have 4 sn kids, each is a precious gift and have been wonderful blessings to our family. Medically they have been manageable - we never thought this is how our family would have been created but it has given us a completely different outlook on life - sn can seem scary but once you embrace it - it is very manageable!

  • This is a very well done video. Anyone considering adoption from China should see it. If we were to adopt again, we would definitely look for a "waiting child".

  • When I started the adoption process, I started down the NSN path but quickly started learning about special needs adoptions. One of my good friends had adopted her sn daughter from China. I kept feeling the call to go the sn route and my wonderful social worker (thanks Jeannie) told me about the agency through which I found my daughter Angel! Most special needs are so easy to deal with. I am so blessed that I went the sn route. Angel is just perfect!
